Company Profile

Cardiology Consultants is a group of sixteen physicians specializing in cardiology.  The office is located near downtown Calgary in the community of Bridgeland and is setup to see patients in consultation and follow-up.  There is also a diagnostic laboratory (Cardiology Plus) which allows onsite evaluations with ECG's, exercise treadmill testing, echocardiography and myocardial perfusion imaging. The members also work out of the Foothills Hospital, the Rockyview Hospital and the Peter Lougheed Centre.  The physicians in this group are dedicated to providing quality patient care as well as research and teaching in cardiology.

Cardiology Consultants, founded by Dr. J.C. Morgan in 1976, is the largest private cardiology group in Canada caring for over 50,000 patients annually.  The physicians in the group are leaders in cardiovascular medicine in Calgary.  Their achievements include:

• the first cardiac catheterization laboratory at the Holy Cross Hospital, developed in collaboration with Dr. D. Florendine
• the first angiogram
• the first cardiovascular surgery program, in conjunction with Dr. G. Miller
• the first comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program in western Canada

These cardiologists have strong leadership roles in the medical community in Calgary.  The group includes the medical directors of cardiology at the Peter Lougheed Centre and Rockyview Hospital, director of the regional cardiac rehabilitation program (Cardiac Wellness Institute of Calgary), director of the regional nuclear cardiology laboratory, and a co-director of the Adult Congenital Heart Clinic of Southern Alberta.

Members of Cardiology Consultants have the skill and expertise which comes from the highest level of training and through years of clinical experience.  They use the most advanced technologies available today to offer the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic tests:

Physicians at Cardiology Consultants believe in sharing their knowledge in the fast paced world of medicine.  Their skills, experience and wisdom are in great demand.  Most of the members hold teaching positions at the University of Calgary and all are active in teaching medical students and residents.  They also speak at local, national and international meetings of physician groups.  The 2010 CME Conference Cardiology for the Non-Cardiologist  is another example of Cardiology Consultants dedication to medical education.

The group also has a very active research interest.  Either individually or through the Heart Health Institute of Calgary (a separate entity established by Cardiology Consultants), members act as principal investigators in local, national and international trials that continue to enhance the understanding of cardiac disease and its treatment.  This research is frequently published in leading medical journals.
