The
Heart
Health Program is for people who have been screened by a family doctor and have been
found to to have major risk factors for heart disease. A physician's referral is needed
for admission to the Heart Health Program.
At the Cardiac Wellness Institute you will have further testing to determine
if you have heart disease. Our intensive half-day assessment will provide you with the
information and tools you need to reduce your risk of suffering a heart attack.
This program includes consultation with a cardiologist and a detailed review of your risk factors with a cardiac nurse specialist. A treadmill exercise test will determine your cardiovascular fitness and your present risk of having heart disease. The results of this test will be reviewed with you by one of our exercise specialists, while an Institute physician will spend time helping you develop your individualized risk reduction program.
The physician will communicate your results along with our recommendations directly to your family doctor.
