Research

Cardiology Consultants of Calgary has a very active research interest.  Either individually or through the Heart Health Institute, a separate entity established by Cardiology Consultants, members act as principal investigators in local, national and international research trials that continue to enhance the understanding of cardiac disease and its treatment.  This research is frequently published in leading medical journals.

The mission of the Heart Health Institute research clinic is to conduct pharmaceutical sponsored and/or investigator-generated clinical research trials related to cardiology, lipidology and hypertension in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines set out in the International Conference on Harmonization.

Dr. Patrick T. S. Ma is the Principal Investigator and Dr. Neil Filipchuk is the co-investigator.  There are seven registered nurses, a research assistant, a laboratory technician, an accounting administrator and an office assistant currently on staff.
